To begin it led me to an autism diagnosis! I had what I now know was an autistic-driven burnout most likely exacerbated by perimenopause and the “estrogen dive”. I was diagnosed and medicated at age 12 with ADHD. But pause pushed me over the edge emotionally and what I can only associate as PMDD or postpartum like symptoms began. Along with a torn shoulder, right hip bursitis, sweating involuntarily, sleeplessness, rage, crying, and so much more.
I have little to no patience left for much - because sleep evaded me until - after begging and begging my gyno (who put me on birth control daily until i pushed through and spotted - uncomfortable) and my primary care physician I got the patch and progesterone separately. I also researched a naturopath but it began at $1000 for the consult and I’m way underemployed bc you aren’t a cash earning cow when in burnout.
So yeah, perimenopause changed my life. I don’t know why we aren’t talking about it every where - I am, hyper fixating. One particular fixation is the definitions themselves - we miss use menopause for most things when we are discussing most often Peri (she gets capital letters because she absolutely is a queen and rules over everything for a decade long reign). *unless you have a forced menopause. The layers on this one are understudied and still misleading even down to the terms.
