Menopause Magick

PA, USA

53

Omfg. THANK YOU for doing the good work! I'm so proud to be part of a generation of fearless women who are refusing to ignore what they know about their own bodies and experiences.

I've been through the medical wringer in my 30s over gut health issues and had to rally doctors, anyone, who would listen. I almost died. I literally saved myself.

Fast forward 20 years, when I asked my gyn about HRT, I was stonewalled. She tried to scare me with stories about patients who had suffered strokes. It felt like when I was in my 30s again when no doctors really understood the gut yet. Luckily, I spoke to other women on HRT and found another doctor!

This may sound weird to you, but I am a practitioner of magick. I follow the moon cycles and sometimes worked with the symbolism of fertility, nourishment and menstruation. When I no longer bled, menopause became very real, as it affected my spiritual life, too. I couldn't ignore it as easily as if it were JUST a physical event.

As women, we often push through pain and physical discomfort. Menopause affects the WHOLE PERSON. It is an unravelling. We generally do not support people who fall apart in modern culture. We shun them, hide them and isolate them.

I would love to see communities of menopunks everywhere, caring for each other!
